SUMMARY:
Jorge Sanchez ARPS has planned a trip on behalf of the RPS Travel Group to Switzerland from 20th to 27th June 2009. Jorge is founder and manager of YokmoK Adventures. You can find more about YokmoK Adventures here.
The tour, of 8 days / 7 nights, includes visits to the St. Bernard pass; the Italian town of Aosta; the Swiss village of Grimentz; the car-free town of Zermatt and surrounding valley including a trip on the highest cable car in the world to the Klein Matterhorn; and sunsets from the highest hotel in the Swiss Alps; together with other interesting visits and a private photographic session of the Great St Bernard dogs.
ITINERARY:
Day 1. Meeting in the Geneva airport at 14h30 the latest. Transfer to the historic Col du Grand-St-Bernard, Swiss Alps (1h40 drive). This is the oldest alpine pass and it has been used for centuries by armies and travellers. Night in hotel** in the Great Saint Bernard pass. www.hotelhospice.ch
Day 2. In the morning we photograph the famous Saint Bernard dogs and enjoy a private walk with them of around 1h30. The breeding of these dogs has been the task of the monks of the hospice since the XVII century. Then we go to the historic Italian town of Aosta. Day 3. Transfer to the picture-postcard village of Grimentz. We photograph this village and the lay back valley where it sits. Night in hotel*** in Grimentz. www.hotel-alpina-grimentz.com (might change)
Day 4. We stay in the same area and visit the typical Swiss towns of Ayer and Zinal. We take a cablecar to 2500 meters and photograph the summits. Night in hotel*** in Grimentz. www.hotel-alpina-grimentz.com (might change)
Day 5. Transfer to the car-free town of Zermatt. During the day we explore the area at the base of the Matterhorn summit. Night in hotel***** in Zermatt. www.matterhorn-group.ch/en/zermatterhof/index.php
Day 6. We explore and photograph the valley of Zermatt taking different cablecars. One of them will be the Klein Matterhorn, highest cablecar in the world reaching 3883 meters. Night in hotel***** in Zermatt. (see day 5)
Day 7. The town of Zermatt is interesting in itself. Today we dedicate some time to capture its essence. In the afternoon we take a mountain train that will take us to 3100 meters. Day 8. Sunrise shots from the hotel. The panorama is breathtaking, with 29 summits over 4000 meters. Transfer to Geneva (3-hours drive).

Price: 1690 euros (in double room).
Single room supplement of 140 euros.
Minimum group: 6 persons; Maximum group: 12 persons.
