The issue of vaccines in Nepal depends on the tour, we will visit the areas or the time of year we want to undertake the journey.

We recommend that you get in touch with your doctor at least two months before the trip, because there are some vaccines which a need recall dose.

In Nepal a certificate of vaccination against yellow fever to travelers coming from countries with risk of transmission of this disease is required, although such is not the case need not immunize us.

In addition, it is convenient to have updated the official vaccination. Otherwise, you’ll probably have to put the following vaccines:

  • Hepatitis A and B
  • Typhoid fever
  • Diphtheria-Tetanus

As for malaria prevention with the issue of malaria, say that there is a risk of malaria all year in rural areas of the 20 Terai districts bordering with India in Nepal. We do not need an antimalarial drug, but you should confirm anyway with your International Vaccination Center.

However, here we give some recommendations if you want to avoid mosquito bites:

    • Avoid going out between dusk and dawn as mosquitoes usually bite during this period. If you have to go out at night, wear clothes with long sleeves, long pants, socks and avoid dark colors which attract insects.
    • Impregnate the exposed body parts with a repellent.
    • Stay, if possible, in a well-constructed and well maintained building with screens on doors and windows. If you do not have this protection doors and windows must be closed overnight.
    • If mosquitoes can penetrate into the room, put a mosquito net around the bed fixing under the mattress and make sure it is not broken and that no mosquito has been trapped inside.
  • Spraying insecticides, insecticide use diffusers (electric or battery) which bear impregnated pads pyrethrins or to burn in the rooms overnight mosquito coils containing pyrethrins.
