Exploratory trips
What are the exploratory trips about? When we prepare a new trip, and all the research work is finished, instead of us traveling to the chosen destination in order to study the terrain, the exploration trips allow people to travel with us and to participate actively in the preparation of the trip. We could say it’s kind of a première.
We will discuss possible itineraries, the day-by-day schedule, how to make the trip more interesting, etc. All participants are expected to take an active role and not being just be followers. The participants, together with the guide, will work together to offer the best possible trip to the public the following year. In exchange for the effort and the dedication, we offer a reduced price. Unlike our established trips, in the exploration trips there are bigger risks of unforeseen circumstances, changes of plans, etc, therefore it is required that the participants have a strong enterprising and team spirit, and be capable of improvisation. Find some cheap airline tickets and book today, if you're one of our past participants. If you enjoyed your past experience with us, you will love doing an exploration trip. We look forward to seeing you soon!
These trips are reserved for the people who have already taken part in at least one of our trips, that is to say, to our ambassadors. Why? Simply because we already know them and their physical condition.
We hope to propose an exploratory trip every 12 or 18 months.
Exploratory trip 2009
We are going to explore the Swedish Lapland, 250 kilometres over the Arctic Circle. We will do a trek of 7 days with snowshoes along the Kungsleden, “King’s trail”. The nature is absolutely wild, no villages, no people, only the eternal white arctic, and surrounded by the Kebnekaise mountains, the highest in Sweden. This is the territory of the aurorae borealis, the reindeer, and the intense cold.
The guide will be Jorge. He lived in Stockholm 3 years, speaks Swedish, he likes the cold, and has been several times in the area of the Kungsleden, although he does not know the trail.
Estimated difficulty: red - black
Average temperature during daytime: —10°C
Date: March 2009.
The exploratory trip to the Swedish Laplands has been a complete success. You only have to view the photos and videos of the trip to realize how amazing the whole experience was. Enjoy, and see you in our next exploratory trip!
