Day 1 – Chamonix Valley
Meet at Geneva airport. Quick transfer to the village of Chamonix, France, situated at the foot of the impressive Mont Blanc massif. In front of us we have innumerable glaciers that descend to the valley below the highest mountain in Europe. Overnight in a 3-star hotel in Chamonix.
Day 2 – Photographing glaciers in France and Switzerland
Today we photograph two glaciers, one in the French Alps and the other in the Swiss Alps. Both belong to the Mont Blanc massif and each one has a distinctive character. Overnight in a 3-star hotel in Chamonix.
Day 3 – Photographing Mont Blanc and Mer de Glace
We go to the top of Aiguille du Midi using a cable car. The altitude is 3840 meters and the Mont Blanc has never been closer. Then we start an easy hike. This is middle mountain terrain along the west slopes of the Mont Blanc massif, between high snows and glaciers and the deep Chamonix valley. We have excellent viewpoints and staggering photographic possibilities along the way: the Mont Blanc and the sharp peaks of Aiguilles de Chamonix, airy views over Chamonix far below, and the eastern slopes of the Aiguilles Rouges range. In the afternoon we reach a magnificent viewpoint that overlooks the impressive glacier Mer du Glace, second longest glacier in Europe. We spend the night in the highest hotel of the French Alps.
Day 4 – Aletsch glacier
Transfer to Switzerland and arrival to Bettmeralp. We spend the whole day hiking along the Aletsch glacier. This is Europe's largest glacier and declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. We hike and photograph from a natural shelf with outstanding views of the glacier through out the day. Overnight in a 3-star hotel in Bettmeralp.
Day 5 – Aletsch glacier
We focus our attention on the magnificent fir forest of the Aletsch glacier. Overnight in a 3-star hotel in Bettmeralp.
Day 6 – Zermatt
After breakfast, we depart to Zermatt. We spend the rest of the day photographing Zermatt and the Matterhorn. Overnight in a 3-star hotel in Zermatt.
Day 7 – Zermatt and Matterhorn
We spend the day exploring and photographing the region. Dinner in Gornergrat Hotel (3-star), the highest hotel in the Alps. The surroundings are breathtaking, with 29 other summits over 4000 meters. Overnight in a 3-star hotel in Zermatt.
