Day 1 - Meeting in Tenerife
Greeting at Tenerife North airport. We then make a stop in the town of San Cristóbal de la Laguna, UNESCO World Heritage Site. We reach today's destination, the Anaga hostel, after driving along a winding road with spectacular views. The hostel itself is located in a vantage point overlooking the ocean.
Day 2 - Hiking along the Anaga ridges
Our first walk in Tenerife feels like we've traveled back in time. We hike through laurisilva forests, relicts of a vegetation type that originally covered much of the Mediterranean Basin when the climate of the region was more humid. Moreover, we will find incredible viewpoints, some 500 meters above the ocean.
Day 3 - Along the Anaga shores
Today we walk very close to the ocean. We hike along the north shores of Anaga, with small uphills and downhills.
Day 4 - Hike in the Punta Teno
In the morning we leave the Anaga mountains and head towards the Teno massif, on the west coast of Tenerife. We walk in the Punta Teno, and then drive up along the winding road to our hostel for the day.
Day 5 - Hiking along Cumbres de Bolico
Today's hike runs along the Bolico ridges. It’s a spectacular walk, without any danger. We see far in the distant two other Canary Island, La Palma and La Gomera.
Day 6 - Teide National Park
Today we drive to the Teide National Park. The landscapes here are surreal and breathtaking. The lava formations must be the closest it gets on Earth to a lunar landscape. The Park is named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We have in the program two short hikes that will give us a good general overview of the Park. The afternoon hike is perfect to contemplate the Teide summit immersed in the orange sunset light.
We spend the night in the only hotel inside the Park, the Parador de las Cañadas del Teide.
Day 7 - Hike in the Teide National Park
Today we hike one of the most famous paths of the Park. But don’t worry, we won’t find that many people along the hike. Most tourists just walk the first kilometer or so and then head back to the car. We will do the complete hike; long but beautiful.
Day 8 - Teide summit and transfer to the airport
Today we climb to the Teide summit, with a little help... We take a cable car that leaves us close to the summit; it’s just an easy walk from here. At 3718 m, this is the highest mountain in Spain and the highest point in the Atlantic Ocean. Afterwards, we drive to the Tenerife North airport, where we say goodbye until our next adventure together.
