The Tour of Mont Blanc Express is the short version of our Tour of Mont Blanc. This Tour is specially conceived for those that do not have 12 days to spare doing the Tour of Mont Blanc, and still want to explore the most beautiful landscapes of France, Switzerland, and Italy.
We choose alternative paths whenever it is possible, and personally selected the best refuges. In addition, unlike 90% of companies and individuals that offer and make the Tour counter-clockwise, we offer it in the other direction, that is, contrary to everyone. The choice is not just a whim. You'll see the advantages of this formula on the very first day of trek.
Itinerary
Day 1
Rendezvous at the group chalet in Chamonix, situated at the foot of the impressive Mont Blanc massif. We have some spare time to walk around Chamonix before going to the mountain hut to spend the night.
Day 2
After a hearty breakfast, we use a chairlift that take us up to 2,000 meters high (6,561 feet). Without realizing it, we are right in the middle of the most spectacular of the French Alps. We spend the night in a refuge at 2,350 m, on the banks of a lake that once was a glacier. Sunset over the massif of Mont Blanc is absolutely beautiful. Walking time: 4h45.
Day 3
We descend to Tre-le-Champs, and then take a chairlift to Col de Balme. This mountain pass is the border between France and Switzerland. We spend the night in Col de la Forclaz. Walking time: 5h15
Day 4
After our first night in Switzerland, we spend the day with wonderful views of the Rhone valley. Today's destination is the Swiss town of Champex, whose crystal-clear lake is the perfect place to end the day with a tranquil stroll. Walking time: 6h30
Day 5
We take a bus to La Fouly, and then start the climb towards Col du Gran Ferret. From this pass we say au revoir to Switzerland, and buongiorno to Italy. We have incredible views of the summits Grandes Jorasses and Mont Dolent. Walking time: 6h45
Day 6
Today's stage is the longest of all. We start the hike in Lac Combal, and our destination is France. We enjoy the views of many "almost" four-thousands. Walking time: 7h45
Day 7
We start the day descending towards Les Contaminates. This area has been well known for centuries from the countless legends, and we may even witness some of them. We sleep at the foot of two glaciers, where a million years back a frozen lake rested. Walking time: 7h00
Day 8
We start the day climbing towards Col de Tricot, and the views of the Bionassay glacier are simply amazing. We take the chairlift to Les Houches. From here, we take the bus to Chamonix. Congratulations! You have successfully completed the Tour of Mont Blanc Express!
